My mother and I wanted to make fruit pies for everyone last year for Christmas gifts. These dough press "empanada/pierogie" makers made the job so much quicker and easier for us. We loved using them. They come in a variety of sizes so we could make big or little or individual. They are plastic so it was a simple matter to rinse them off and wipe when we wanted to switch fruit toppings. An inexpensive way to simplify and speed up your pie making!
This was a great purchase for the price. I was making empanadas and folding them by hand, which didn’t look too good. This set helps me cut them easily into circles and then easily presses them close. Consistent look each time! I like that there are 3 sizes in the set so I can make them according to my mood. Easy to wash and use. Would highly recommend for the price and functionality!
This dough press has been a life saver! Made over 65 empanadas in a fraction of the time it normally takes me. I would usually use a fork to seal the empanadas. By the time I would be done making over 50 empanadas, my fingers would be in so much pain. My fingers would look like I was holding up gang signs. Gone are the days of having to use a fork!
Taco Tuesday is a family favorite. The menu normally includes tacos, burritos and empanadas. The empanada press is totally the best. In the past, I use to roll, fold and use a fork to seal. Now the empanada press cuts the preparation time down significantly. I used the small Goya discs along with the blue empanada press. Easy to use and easy to clean. Definitely recommend it.
These are absolutely awesome, my daughter and I made two different size of empanadas, we love the fact that there is a circle cookie cutter on the opposite side of this product to cut out your dough. Then you place the circle dough on the inside for your empanadas maker, it's super easy. We learned the hard way that putting too much meat will make the empanadas bulge out of the back of this product when you squeeze it down. Other than that, this is a perfectly well made items, and I will be buying more.
Any issues with this product can be solved with trial and error, bigger dough circle, too much filling, better dough. ..etc.
I used a dough recipe I found on the internet to make beef empanadas. On a few the dough squished out the back of the press which may have been from too much filling. Also some did not seal properly, I think the dough might need to be slightly bigger than the circle, or maybe need to brush edges with water. Overall a great product for the price, I think I will have fun trying lots of different recipes.
I wanted to post this review in case anyone was wondering. The blue in the bunch is great for Goya Empanadas discs. I sealed it without anything inside to try it out. It worked pretty well and will get the job done. Two recommendations, use flour when pressing the empanadas and press hard to seal it tight.
